The Summit event is the annual national gathering for high school students that use the Awana Journey studies. Church teams, regional teams, and individuals joining teams will all compete to become the national champions in Quizzing, Games, Co-Ed Volleyball (six on six) and group or individual Fine Arts Festival. The Quizzing Champion Team will earn a scholarship for each team member and the winner in each category of the Fine Arts Festival will be awarded scholarship money (paid to the college of their choice).
During the Opening ceremony we enjoy a wonderful time of worship and an outstanding speaker.
Participants can attend our College and Ministry Fair giving them the opportunity to meet college representatives, ask questions, and hear what they can offer to incoming Christian students. Raffle prizes are offered via entries made through visiting each participating college table. Prizes have included computer tablets and gift certificates/gift cards.
The highlight of our event is the Citation Ceremony. This ceremony celebrates each graduating high school student or adult that has earned the right to be presented with the Citation Award. This award is the culmination of ten years of Awana handbooks (Bible Study, Christian Service, read the whole Bible & summarize each book, share their faith through conversation or invite a friend to attend club, and memorize/recite approximately 1000 Bible verses).
We close our Summit event with the Platinum Round of Quizzing to determine the national champions followed by the Summit Closing Ceremony. During closing we announce the national champions and present them with their awards finishing with the revealing of next year’s Summit location.
The annual location moves each year which offers students a chance to visit different regions within the United States.
